Best of the Market Box - March 2021

Fans of Italian food, rejoice! 

Have you been longing to travel to a far off country to indulge in some local fare as much as we have? Well don't start packing just yet - let this month's Best of the Market Box transport you to Italy without having to leave the comforts of your home. We've included an assortment of authentic Italian goodies, such as fresh pastas, handmade sauces, dessert and wine, for an epic night in that will leave you saying, "Delizioso!".

Zara's Italian Deli has been providing Granville Island Public Market patrons with a colorful and creative range of fresh pastas, sauces, olives and assorted antipasti for over twenty years. We know that everyone secretly has a favourite pasta shape, so we've added THREE varieties to make all of your noodle dreams come true!

To start, Zara's Crab & Lobster Ravioli are their most popular stuffed pasta, and for good reason. Filled with a delicate mixture of crab, lobster and creamy ricotta cheese, these bite-sized morsels are truly hard to resist! These pillows of goodness are great on their own, but we like to enjoy them with a simple sauce of lemon and butter.

Next up, we've added a pasta that most people are familiar with. Wider than spaghetti and thinner than fettuccine, we love Zara's Linguine for its versatility! With a perfect chew, this long, eggless noodle pairs perfectly with Zara's Sundried Tomato Pesto, but don't stop there...pick up some clams and try your hand at a traditional "Linguine alle Vongole". Insert fork, twirl, enjoy and repeat!

Last up for the noodle offerings, but certainly not least, Zara's fun, cone-shaped Campanelle is best enjoyed with their Fresh Basil Pesto. While not as popular as other short pastas, such as macaroni or penne, this "new"-dle will not disappoint as it cradles your favourite sauces and takes your pasta game to the next level!

Don't forget to save some room for dessert, because you're not going to want to miss out on Duso's famous Tiramisu! Made in-house, this coffee-flavoured Italian favourite is what dreams are made of. Delicate ladyfingers are dipped in coffee, layered with the fluffiest, whipped mascarpone and topped with rich cocoa powder - are you drooling yet?

Finally, we've included a bottle of Italian Red Wine to accompany all of these savoury and sweet, mouth-watering Italian eats. Mama would be so proud!

STORAGE: Zara’s fresh pastas can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. They also freeze beautifully for up to 6 weeks; do not defrost - cook from frozen.
